Who Is Marcus Hyde? New Details About Kim Kardashian’s Personal Photographer Who’s In Critical Condition Following Car Wreck
Marcus Hyde, personal photographer to Kim Kardashian, is in critical condition after a car wreck.
Kim Kardashian is shaken today after learning that her friend and photographer Marcus Hyde was in a serious car accident and is listed in critical condition. TMZ reports that he lost control of his vehicle and went over an embankment. He was later airlifted to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. He suffered head injuries according to law enforcement familiar with the accident.
Kim is understandably upset, taking to social media to ask for prayers for her friend.
Who is Marcus Hyde? Read on to find out more.
1. East Coast origins
Hyde is originally from near Richmond, Virginia where he graduated from Manchester High School. He told a hometown TV station that he started getting into photography around 2008. He said, “I basically was just shooting friends and it got to the point where models would start contacting me to setup photo shoots. After people said I was good at it, I never really put down the camera.”
2. LA Bound
Hyde eventually left Richmond and headed to the west coast to try his luck there. He was approached by Kim Kardashian to do a beach shoot with the star earlier this year.
3. Easy to work with
Hyde had nothing but good things to say about Kardashian, saying “She was literally the coolest person I’ve ever worked with. The reason she was so cool was because I could give her direction and she would listen to it. She wouldn’t say, ‘Oh, I don’t like this side of me,’or ‘I don’t like this.’ She was so easy to work with. I didn’t feel nervous or pressured or anything. She trusted my vision, so that was really cool.”
4. Extensive portfolio
In addition to photographing KKW, Hyde had worked with other celebrities as well, including Childish Gambino, Chance the Rapper, and Jhené Aiko.
5. Family matters
Once Hyde’s photos of Kim blew up, she started passing out his number to people in her family, including husband Kanye West. Hyde told Complex, “Kim texted me and told me she gave him my number. Then, randomly got a call hours later. I almost didn’t answer it because I didn’t know the number. But I answered and it was him. He said, “Hey, it’s ‘Ye.” I didn’t know what to say. I was lost for words.” He’s also shot Kim’s sisters, including mega-model Kendall Jenner.
6. Big plans
Hyde released his first book earlier this year, called Girls on Film. He also has plans for a second book — maybe the same one Kim mentioned in her post — as he said in an Instagram post earlier this month, “Sorry for the lack of posts I’ve been doing a lot of traveling lately (actually stopped packing so I could post this before my flight). I’m currently working on my next book which will be strictly polaroids I’ve shot over the past few years. I’ve shot thousands & most of them have never been released. Thank you again for everyone who supported and got a copy of Girls on Film. I’m excited to share the next one.”
Best wishes to Marcus Hyde for a full recovery.
